How It Started
As a kid, I loved to play video games and was really fascinated by the idea of having my own little server that my friends could join. The main kickstarter was Minecraft Realms; you pay a price and your world is shared and hosted with you and your friends, allowing them to play even if you're not online!
But as I got older, I did some research on other games and found host providers that cost a lot of money just to play games with my friends. So I thought, why not do it myself for free? In order to do that, you need a good computer that can host, port-forwarding skills, and server set-up knowledge, which I learned at the age of 15.
Today, I have a lot of experience in hosting game servers and strongly believe I can teach anyone and learn different games to host with ease!
Server Optimization Tips
Beyond just getting a server online, optimization is key to a smooth gaming experience. One of the biggest challenges I faced was managing latency and tick rates. By tweaking configuration files and allocating the correct amount of RAM, I reduced lag spikes significantly.
Another crucial aspect is security. Since I opened ports on my router, I had to ensure firewalls were configured correctly to prevent DDoS attacks. I also implemented regular backups to protect player data from corruption. These skills have turned a simple hobby into a robust technical project.
